Zwidy – Nigdy nie będę taki jak bym chciał

When the band Zwidy contacted me to create the cover of their new album, I was given one brief. It wasn’t surprising – they knew they wanted a specific photo on the cover (by Michał ‘Masza’ Matraszek).

What they didn’t tell me was that this would be their last album. What I did get was a vast archive of various photos from concerts, rehearsals and tours that the band had been on for several years. I’d never created a print based on photos of the band, so the subject seemed interesting to explore. A classic rock cover idea – everything that Zwidy are not.

I decided to base the typography on the modernist Neue Haas Grotesk font, used exclusively in capital letters. I based the colour scheme on the palette from the cover photo – contrasting, intense and slightly unleavened colours. From all of this, we created the last (so far), multi-coloured and extensive portrait of the band.
