Designing for print has recently become a smaller and smaller part of my job. When I started working, it was exactly the opposite – I designed almost nothing except print. And although over time I converted my design style from CMYK to RGB, and millimeters to pixels, I still like designing books and their covers.

The publishing house of Warsaw’s Maria Grzegorzewska University ordered two covers from me for their scientific publications. The first was ‘Uwodzenie Lirogona’ – about maritime and sailing education as a pedagogical strategy. The second was ‘Srebrne Conteści Cyfrowe’ – about how old age and wisdom can cope in today’s internet and other media, based rather on the cult of youth.

In both, I decided to treat the whole thing strongly illustratively and bypass the list of requirements for a scientific publication by playing holistically. I used the Dala Moa and Euclid fonts for this, creating a high-contrast, but warm and friendly duo.
